"Now is not the time to be distracted again. Now is the time to organize, and support health care reform. I don't know if we get all that we want. Quite possibly not. But if we let people like Wilson steal our thunder again, we will most certainly not get what we want.

[Context for anyone not yet aware of the reference: Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) called President Obama a liar in an outburst in the middle of Obama's speech last night.]

Of course, a couple dozen other members of the GOP weren't behaving all that much better during the same speech, they just weren't -quite- so blatant about it.

Hi there! I noticed you're from Baltimore, like me, so I wondered how you happened to come across my blog... do we know someone in common? Did you see my blog-feed via Facebook? Anyhow, thanks for the comment. I just responded to it by the way.

I followed the link you posted in a comment at the Bad Astronomy blog (which I had gotten to in turn by following a link a friend had posted (flocked, or I'd say who), though I probably ought to just put BAblog on my regular reading list). I hadn't gotten as far as looking at your profile to notice you were in B'more yet... As to whether we know anyone in common, it's a small world, and often seems especially so in my network of friends, so maybe.

For folks just tuning in, the conversation we're talking about is here, and the stepping-stone to it is here, a follow-on to this (which will show up in another QotD entry later, though a bunch of other people are already quoting the soundbite part). The topic at BAblog is a) the media giving crazies too much credibility and b) folks reacting more to what they expected him to say than what he actually wrote; and the topic at SurvivalMachine is health care reform.
