my chronic illness kitty will snub "stale" food but perks up to it if you add hot water. it releases more scent. i feed cans "fancy feast" seafood. from BJs because its wheat free... and not expensive. it is VERY smelly to me, but the cats adore it.
as to your weakness..... uh, H1N1 has a rep for being more exhausting than the normal flu i have lots of hand problems and find that essential oils magnesium (anti inflammatory) and B vitamisn solve most issues
