"When the tea party folks go out on the streets with 10,000 people it gets all this attention. Recently latinos were out 1 million strong and it was a blip on tv." -- Jonathan Alter, on the MSNBC television program Countdown with Keith Olbermann, 2010-05-07

Remember the Know Nothing party? Right, nobody does, except for historians. I guarantee you, in four years, the Tea Party will only be a question on Jeopardy.

Admittedly, a) people feel that the Tea Party protests (or BS, depending on one's viewpoint) is actually relevant to them, and b) much of the Latino protesting seems to be pro-illegal-immigrants, which most viewers have no taste for.

While I agree to a certain extent, I also know that the media lies about how many people show up to what rally.

When I went to the 10th (?) anniversary of Roe V Wade, the media reported our numbers at about half what they were - and pretty much doubled the size of the counter-protest. My father took one look at the pictures of both groups & was disgusted as well as surprised - he was certain I had just been conspiracy theorizing when i complained about it.
