Another reason he's wrong is that undocumented immigrants have a hard time finding good living accommodations because if you have no legal ID, and/or no bank account, and/or no credit history (especially in the US, where credit checks for rentals are commonplace), and/or no aboveground employer, what kind of rental property are you going to be able to get? Also, if the housing you do find is substandard, overcrowded, and not code-legal, what are you going to do, complain to the authorities? Given how hard it is for actual citizens to file landlord-tenant complaints, and how often they lose, the idea is risible.
