"Imagination is the beginning of creation. You imagine what you desire, you will what you imagine and at last you create what you will." -- George Bernard Shaw [thanks to [info] blueeowyn]

To my Canadian friends, happy Thanksgiving. To my fellow Americans, happy Columbus Day. And to Native Americans / First Nations people, etc., uh ... wow, these are kinda problematic holidays, aren't they? (I can't fix what was done centuries ago, and I'm not sure I can even legitimately apologize, since so much that I'm grateful for, so much of the culture I know, sprang from all that. But I can at least try to remember not to pretend it didn't happen. Not that my track record on that is all that great.)

Yeah, funny thing ... among my several reasons for becoming a vegetarian was the nagging thought that I really wasn't sure whether it was moral for me to eat animals, and the notion that maybe I should stop doing so until I figured that out. But once I went veg, I no longer felt so much need to figure it out, so I've kinda left that question not-really-explored for a couple decades or so. Not only am I not going to lecture others on whether they should or should not eat meat, I don't really even have a coherent opinion to keep to myself. (I've got some thoughts suitable for abstract philosophical debate, but not so much idea what other people Ought To Do. As a mental exercise or for entertainment, I can argue both sides of that.)

I understand--longtime vegetarian here who used to lecture everyone decades ago when I first switched, but not in recent decades, since you can't force certain things. I just got a kick out of you trying to cover every politically-correct base but not including the other-than-humans...! For sukkot this week, you can be both joyful and sorry for the lemons-with-stens and other plant fruities that get bashed around celebratorily maybe! ahahaha!
