More Christians need to hear this, particularly in respect to funeral rites, where every sectarian* Christian sentiment is directly aimed at subverting and abnegating every natural human instinct for dealing with grief. As an atheist with a strong humanist bent, I find that infuriating, not least because it's such a transparent con game scheme for social control...

* As in "of an established sect of Christianity," rather than pertaining to those Christians (host included) who practice no particular Christianity other than an adherence to the ostensible teachings of Christ.
