Reading the quotes from Brownie, I'm reminded of the research showing that incompetent people tend to be supremely unaware of their own incompetence -- they're also incompetent at recognizing competence. Even so, it's pretty stunning to hear someone advocating the exact misguided idea that made him a national disgrace.
