[When was the last time you made sure your user-profile was up to date? Today is National Update Your Damn Profile Day.]

"[...] Hence my proposal for a modern universal Rite of Passage. What we need our children to prove, upon recognition of adulthood, is not their prowess in battle or the hunt, not their virility, not their adeptness at social maneuvering, but their ability to contribute meaningfully to society by teaching another member of the community, from level 0, how to do something that is both difficult and absolutely neccessary in our society today. By requiring our children to teach some other person, child or adult, a needed life skill, over the course of about a year, this pre-adult shows persistence, perseverence, discernment, and of course, the key skill in question." -- [info] shirad, 2013-02-27

I'm pretty sure updating your blessed profile still counts as being in the spirit of the day. Maybe even profiles of unremarkable spiritual status as well.

:-)

Very well, I tweaked my mini-bio on my Dreamwidth account. Updating *all* my profiles will likely wait until my next job-free phase.

I would have failed that test like a fucking failure as a young adult. I could not explicate any of my skills to another person. hell, I couldn't explain them to myself. All I could do was use them as much as circumstances would allow.

Now in my late fifties, I am able to teach, and I do it all the time and I do it well.

Oddly enough, I do feel more like an adult now than I ever did.. But late bloomers-- are late bloomers.
