Thursday I took my guest to the airport, stopping to have
dinner with
madbodger first. I spent the night
in Arlington, slept poorly, and made up for it by spending
much of Friday drifting in and out of sleep. Made dinner in
Arlington for the folks I was visiting instead of going to
another friend's punk lute concert (damn, I should've posted
her Artworks This
Week appearance in my journal so more folks could've
watched/taped it) because we were just running that far behind.
(Wanted to drag someone to the concert; will have to do that
another time. Also need to pick up Dawn's new CD when I get
a chance.) Came back to Baltimore with the person I wanted
to take to the concert -- she's crashing here while attending
a class this weekend. Didn't sleep very well last night, so
I'm sleepy again today, but I did make a wee dent in part of
my to-do list. Not much, but enough to feel that I've done
something. Waiting for microwaved baked potato to
finish cooking and a cup of Earl Grey to steep, then it's
snacktime.
I'm not doing all that well at getting out to see my
friends face-to-face, but fortunately some are coming to me.
(And I did get out Thursday, even though the outing was
based around the trip to the airport.) It's a start.
I should go visit
butterfluff and Pam more often,
since they're nearby.
This is the first place I've lived in that hasn't had a
name, since my first apartment after moving out of my parents
house. Now that I know I'm staying put for a while, I should
name it. Other places I've lived have been named:
- The Barn (we didn't use the name much)
- The Labyrinth
- The House With No Name (yeah, the name was inaccurate as soon as
we named it)
- The Oatfield
- TEAHouse West
I'm playing with ideas for a name for this house, but so far
most of what I've come up with sounds corny to my own ear.
(I was toying with the idea of "Desert Ship Nil" because the
obvious choice for someone with my last name seemed kind of
pretentious, but making it something that translates to "Camel
Aught" replaces the pretensiousness with much safer dorkiness.)
I'm sure I can come up with something better.
In the meantime, I blame it all on my being sleepy and
hungry.
