(More net connection trouble. Details later in rant mode. Wrote this yesterday before the connection failed. Now even farther behind on prepping to leave for Pennsic.)

Finally giving in to this meme after I saw [livejournal.com profile] zoethe's take on it, but was motivated to follow her lead and comment on each item. One problem with doing a "you know you're from Maryland when" list is that Maryland is, for purposes of geography, dialect, accent, and culture, really at least four distinct entities.

Am I from around here? C'mon, even 'here' isn't from around here. )

"In science it often happens that scientists say, "You know that's a really good argument; my position is mistaken," and then they would actually change their minds and you never hear that old view from them again. They really do it. It doesn't happen as often as it should, because scientists are human and change is sometimes painful. But it happens every day. I cannot recall the last time something like that happened in politics or religion." -- Carl Sagan ( thanks to [livejournal.com profile] xpioti)

Two things:

Eek! Urk? Boom! Exploding knitting needle

It's now clear that I'm not making a wee-hours getaway to Pennsic. My house is not the ideal place to try organizing and loading out by flashlight, so when the lights go out, I'll crash and resume packing around dawn. Getting tired of finding more delays. Want to be there already. Want to have been there for a few days already. *pout* [stomps foot]

Bonus whining not on the agenda: roof is leaking tonight. Wheee. Gotta go check whether I've got the trash cans lined up in the right spots.
