... slow.

I figured both Appletalk/localtalk and PPP would run at the maximum speed of the serial port and thus be about equally fast, but I'm starting to wonder whether this would be going faster if I'd gone ahead and set up a PPP server on my LAN for the day.

(And no, I'm not doing this as an exercise in tehno-masochism.)
