Both of these are from "Sin of the Month" by Abby Bardi, March 2005, about what form of intimidation finally shut down a quirky pamphleteer.

"If Andy Kaufman [...] were alive today, he would probably be in Guantanamo."

and

"Where threats of imprisonment may not deter a person from exercising his First Amendment rights, threats to his coffee supply may do the trick."

Am very tired, feeling unwell. Hope this passes soon. Drove earlier despite feeling like this, and got stuck on I-95 for 40 minutes on the wrong side of a load of lumber spilled across the road. Hoping to get enough rest this afternoon to get to rehearsal tonight. Missed 3LF rehearsal last night -- getting ready tired me out to much to get there. :-(

Hoping I a) get far enough ahead of my to-do list and b) feel energetic enough at that time, to get around to blogging various small and un-small bits of recent goodness so that I'm not just posting about being tired ... but with only a couple of days until I leave for Pennsic, I may just have to compose those on my PDA (assuming it holds up; I've somehow -- not sure how -- managed to get a crack across part of the Graffiti area) during too-hot-to-do-stuff afternoons there and post 'em all after I get back. (Hmm. Anyone got a spare laptop to lend me? Or I could resort to pen and paper, of course.)

I've been wrestling with the decision whether to bring the double bass. On the one hand, I know I'm going to want it on multiple occasions during the War. On the other hand, it's large and borrowed and wood and I'd bee That Much More Nervous about my tent when it rains. On the one hand, I could probably get some pointers on bowing and I could certainly use the extra practice time. On the other hand, getting it there will be tricky since the only place to transport it will be in the back of a huge truck I'll be driving up for a merchant, and I'd worry about it -- or other things -- shifting during the drive and doing damage. The deciding factor (unless I *cough* change my mind again): While I know I'll want to play it at Pennsic, I don't think I'll want to maneuver it up the hill to the barn from camp, even with the endpin wheel attached. So I think I'm leaving it home.

Depending on how organized I manage to be in the next two days, thank-you notes may wind up being on Pennsic postcards. (No, I still haven't heard from the hospital's billing department. The PayPal donations are sitting there waiting for that answer -- I'm not sure what the odds are of there being anything left over after the hospital is paid, but if there is, my plan is to see what good a few sessions of counselling will do me. I can scrape together postage and post cards from my existing Pennsic budget.)

More later if I get my stuff together -- if you see nothing but QotD entries for the next couple of weeks you'll know why.
