"In real life, we identify classes of people--rich and poor, for example--by their clothing. There's only one class system on the Internet, though: the clueful and the clueless. We can't see what someone's wearing when they type, so we look at how they type instead.

"Grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary are your shirt, pants, and shoes (respectively) when you're on the Internet. You can get by without them, but you really can't complain when people look at you sideways.

"Fortunately, upgrading to middle-class on the Internet is much easier than in real life. :-)"
