"The police have climbed on top of the roofs of bookstores, have installed cameras in cinemas, and have otherwise expended enourmous resources, in order to punish as public sex, conduct that was taking place when people had evey reason to expect that what they were doing was private." -- Kendall Thomas, law professor at Columbia University, on the PBS television program In The Life, episode "Wide Stance", January 2008 [broadcast 2008-01-14 on MPT; may have been other dates on other stations]

So yesterday I worried a lot. Because of a worrisome weather forecast. And then I posted a lot (worried->babble). And when I went to bed I had one eye on a weather web site to watch the radar. Though only a couple people commented (it's not like I was writing anything all that interesting) I'm guessing that more than a few of my friends were doing some hoping on my behalf.

Around midnight the storm I'd been tracking finally arrived. Funny thing, though... )

See that convenient gap? My house is in southwest Baltimore ("SoWeBo"), pretty close to where I-95 enters the city. I got brushed by one edge of that little gap. No rain until after the section visible on radar had gone by, and then not very hard nor very long. I got a tiny amount of water dripping briefly on the third floor.

*whew*

The remaining question, of course, is whether I can get something done about the roof before the next rain. Today I think I'd better try to get my prescriptions first, then get back to the roof matter.

Got my prescriptions.

Ran out of spoons.

(Did get all the way home before falling over.)
