"If the use of leisure time is confined to looking at TV for a few extra hours every day, we will deteriorate as a people." -- Eleanor Roosevelt (b. 1884-10-11, d. 1962-11-07), My Day (newspaper column) 1958-11-05

Gotta agree with the lady on this one.

There's a cartoon of two people watching TV, and evidently the woman has just said, "Whatever did we do with ourselves before TV," although that isn't actually in the cartoon. What IS in the cartoon is her husband's response.

He says, "What did we do before TV? We played cards. We went dancing. We gave dinner parties. We went to dinner parties. We sang songs around the piano. We played games. We had conversations. We went fishing. We played tennis. We went ..."

Devastating!
