"Benefit of cat ownership
"Me, hearing a noise at night: oh just the cat
Me, hearing a louder noise: oh just the cat
Me, hearing glass shattered & heavy footsteps: oh just the cat
Me, hearing demonic whispers: oh just the cat
Me, hearing Satan chanting my name: oh just the cat"

"*Earthquake occurs, tornado sirens go off, volcano spontaneously spawns and erupts*
Me: What'd that f**king cat do now" -- Matt Skywalker (MIB1188), replying to Mx. Maruska
[How it works in my house:
- Hear a noise in the middle of the night.
- Look at cat.
- Cat looks at me as if expecting me to explain the noise.
- We both look in the direction of the noise.
Given the number of "likes" on my tweet saying that, I get the impression the same is true for a lot of other cats and their humans. (Occasionally we both get up to investigate; usually we each kinda look at each other like, "You gonna check that out? No? Okay then, I'm not going to bother either.")]
