As requested (suggested?), a recent photo of Perrine (in the wee hours of this morning) to mark the decade she's been with me. Sorry about the funky cropping -- it was a shot-of-opportunity, and between the size of the room, which lens I had on the camera, and where Perrine decided to pose, it was either a potentially distracting crop or definitely distracting visual clutter eating the right side of the picture.
I feel so lucky to have her around. I hope she feels the same way. To celebrate, last night I brushed her until she decided she'd been brushed enough. (This can take a while.) This afternoon we played with string.
Unrelatedly, a cute bird that I'd shot a day and a half earlier:

Not really, but she most likely has some Maine Coon blood in the mix of her ancestry. One of the vets who has seen her said that there's a lot of Maine Coon in the non-pedigreed genepool, at least from the mid-Atlantic states on north. She's tiny, but the same vet said that a female Main Coon can wind up small if she's spayed late, and Perrine was probablt more than two years old and had miscarried a litter by the time I got her fixed (she arrived pregnant but was so tiny -- and literally starving -- that I had no clue until I came home and found the aborted foetuses in various rooms. (Ick.) She's gotten much bigger since, but she's still a small cat.
She does have the ear-tufts. The adorable Maine Coon ear-tufts.

Many more happy years together to you & Perrine!

And what kind of pretty bird is that - do you know?

And that bird is indeed very cute, and I wish I knew what it was, and the last shot is fantastic.
