I suspect that thinking there is no such thing as gender identity is diagnostic (in the taxonomic sense of that word) of being cisgender. Part of the fish and water thing Imp is talking about. Not that everyone cisgender thinks that—there are cis people who will say "of course I'm a woman!" quite strongly—but that all or almost all the people who think that are cisgender.

One problem (of many) w/ this culture is its bi-polar nature. You're either male or female, Republican or Democrat, good or evil. There's no neutral ground off the main floor where people can just stand and watch the other assholes dance. I would have long ago become an Eyan Har'a (the 3rd or neuter gender on my home world). That way I would have just lived my stupid life w/o dealing w/ half the stuff I was forced to deal w/ every day before, during & after my transition from one side to the other.
