Hm. "Loyalty Day" is indeed a red-scare thing. But older then the 1950s. Although not made "official" until then, the recognition of so-called "Loyalty Day" was first performed in 1921, basically at the behest of Wilson, et. al. who wanted to beat down further the actual leftists in the US.
