The problem with that analogy is that I don't think I'm supposed to be showing my passwords to my partners either, let alone to people who see me in my underwear in a gym locker room. (In practice, yes, cattitude and adrian_turtle know where to find that information, but I expect them not to do so unless I ask or it's a genuine emergency and I'm unconscious.)
I think I'll stick to the "treat it like your toothbrush" one: I'll show people my underwear, but not let them use my toothbrush.
I've been reading advice lately that says that changing your passwords frequently is actually a bad idea, because with an ever-changing password, people write it down, and the note compromises the password more than long use does.
