"Regardless of how rough the identity factor has made it to go on, looking at the balance sheet, I'm grateful for the Bat. It did more for me than against me. It gave [me] money, an international name, the kind of recognition that has allowed me to at least disprove what it caused. That may be tougher than starting from scratch, I don't know." -- Adam West (b. 1928-09-16, d. 2017-06-09, [the one true] Batman 1966-1968) [via IMDB]

"In the hands of a lesser hero, West's series would've been snorted off the screen." -- Gael Fashingbauer Cooper, "Adam West's 'Bright Knight' was the best Batman ever", 2017-06-10

I saw the Adam West Batman when it was originally broadcast and loved it, but since I was eight years old (and since that was a vastly more innocent and less cynical era than the one we currently inhabit), I didn't know that it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek. :-)
