Yes. Or if they have had cats. Or if they hope to find a cat or kitten. And there are discussions of cat food and behavior and toys and many other things.
It's like discussions about people we are or have in the past dated, but more interesting. :)
Just happened to me today -- the guy at T-Mobile who was transferring service (and data) from my old phone to my new phone noticed cat pictures and proceeded to tell me about his new 12-week-old kittens. With pictures, of course. :-)
