"So God throws open the door of this world--and enters as a baby. As the most vulnerable imaginable. Because He wants unimaginable intimacy with you. What religion ever had a god that wanted such intimacy with us that He came with such vulnerability to us? What God ever came so tender we could touch Him? So fragile that we could break Him? So vulnerable that His bare, beating heart could be hurt? Only the One who loves you to death." -- Ann Voskamp

[To most of my fellow Christians, on this first day of Christmas, I wish you a joyous celebration of the Nativity of Our Lord, and may you keep the Christmas spirit through the rest of Christmastide as well! Advent is finished and Christmas is begun! To non-Christians celebrating our holiday today, I wish you a merry Christmas, whatever it means to you, as well -- and to everyone not celebrating in one way or another, may you have a pleasant and peaceful Monday with the rest of us out of your hair for a spell. Finally, for those of my faith who are not celebrating the Nativity today -- those in old-calendar Coptic, Georgian, and Russian churches -- may the remainder of your Advent be good, and your Christmas two weeks hence be wonderful!]

Well said, and wonderful quote to have shared. (I may well have encountered similar thought on Christmas, although I don’t recall anything as simple and yet profound.)
