I've long noted that TERFs' primary objection to transwomen seems to be, deep down, that transwomen value womanhood. They'll deny it, of course, but their rabid arguments all seem to wind up circling back around this point: how dare someone who has the option not to live as a woman chose to live as a woman; such a person must be acting in bad faith because it couldn't possibly be that anyone could want to be a woman. Which is to say, internalized misogyny. The fervidness of their objections seems to be rooted in how the existence of transwomen invalidates their unacknowledged premise that there's nothing about being a woman which doesn't completely suck.
Datapoint: The one TERF I knew in person resented them because to her, they hadn't grown up with womens' challenges (e.g., being talked over/dismissed, and worse) and she thought they would take over all feminist discussions with their male-growing-up habits of mind.
