Yah, "lodgingless" would be more precise; looks like conflating that with homelessness for rhetorical effect is not a new thing. I found the quote evocative nonetheless, and trust most of my friends to mentally read the same correction into it that you did. ;-)
Hmm. Since I'm stuck at home today (I have invitations to be elsewhere but didn't manage to find transportation to any of them), maybe I should reread the Christmas portions of the Gospels and refresh my memory of the differences between them.
