What human beings need is hostile aliens, ones juuuust tough enough that we have to recognize our common humanity and put aside our differences to fight them. At which time they'll reveal that they were only attacking us to get us to do this, of course. :-)

What can I say -- my mind is in the 23rd century half the time. :-)

No, I never have. I've heard people say that they liked it, but I don't know anything about it.

I'm so word-oriented that graphic novels don't usually do much for me, since the pictures are mostly wasted on me. :-)

*nod* In this case I asked because part of the plot is precisely such an effort, to present our fractious human world with a seemingly alien enemy to evoke alliances.
