"I think computer viruses should count as life. I think it says something about human nature that the only form of life we have created so far is purely destructive. We've created life in our own image." -- Stephen Hawking
Authors and playwrights have created millions of people in our imaginations, which should count as a form of life if a computer virus does. Many of those fictional people are good and kind and helpful, even heroic. The creative team of Star Trek created Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, and the crew of the Enterprise, any of whom would sacrifice his life to save others.
I could list other fictional heroes, but I'm sure you can fill out the list yourself with no problem. :-)
