I had a busy week last week, managed to get out and do things on my calendar three nights in a row in the middle of the week and then make it to a gig on Saturday.

Now I'm paying for it. Ouch ouch ouch bleeping ouch. I knew to expect a price, so this bit so far is just self-indulgent whining because I got bored with suffering in silence. The next bit is that mostly by virtue of coming on the heels of the last bit.

Leg cramps kept me awake all night, and just as those were subsiding and I thought I might sleep, that was when they started cutting holes in the sidewalk with those honking big pavement-cutting circular saws right across the street from my window. Argh!

Finally did crash when the noise stopped, around noon, and woke a little while ago; not at rehearsal tonight, and now my sleep cycle will be out of whack for however long ... but then again, my sleep schedule goes wonky for no good reason anyhow.

Okay, enough whining for now. On to quickie updates:

No sign of the cross that was torn from my neck during that attack. Unless it got flung behind the hi-fi, I think it's gone. No more sign of the would-be robber, either, which is a good thing.

I've been meaning to reply to comments on that entry; maybe I'll manage to start on those tonight.

My hand injury is healing at a respectable rate; still looks ugly but the visible part is much smaller than it was, and it mostly doesn't hurt unless I bump it against something kinda hard. I'm getting some flexibility back in my pinkie but can't quite play an F chord yet. (Oddly enough, I can play F-shaped barre chords anywhere except the first fret; I just can't manage it at the top of the neck. I'll experiment with holding the guitar in different positions later, but at the current rate of healing I'm hoping it won't remain a problem too much longer.)

No new news from Mom, neither directly nor by way of my youngest brother. So either the doctors haven't told her anything useful yet, or she's just not telling us.

Okay, one last whiny bit: that windstorm a couple of weeks ago rattled three of my windows so hard it shook the glass loose from the frames and made corners of the frames start to come apart. I finally noticed when I saw the curtains blowing to and fro in front of what were supposed to be closed windows. The largest opening is a bit under two inches. I tried to shove the frame back together and prop a stick under it (on one window I'd already done that in the past but the glass has somehow shifted again despite that), but to no avail. Caulk has been suggested as a temporary measure, but I'm not sure whether the largest gap can be filled that way, and I'm concerned about the bottom of the frame falling off and letting the whole pane plummet to the pavement eventually, anyhow. Whee. (In case it's not obvious, it's the upper sash that's affected on each window.) No wonder the blue bedroom has been so hard to keep warm, eh?

I really need new -- more energy-efficient -- windows, but if it's cheaper to get these re-glazed for now, that'll do ... but it's one more thing on my womdigious to-do list -- actually at least two more things, because I need to clear a path to the windows, which currently require clambering over a couch, a few boxes of papers-to-be-filed, and laundry, to reach -- and one more thing on the dunno-how-I'll-pay-for-this list. Whee.

At least we've only had the one really cold snap so far.

Okay, now to see whether the meds I took before I started writing this are working well enough that I can go downstairs and feed myself and the adorable cat. And maybe I'll make it to 3LF next week. (*sigh*)

Upcoming: Pirate Feast (Pyrate Feast? I see folks spell it a few different ways), 2009-02-14. And between now and then, various attempts to get caught up on email.

Wow, lots going on! *hug*

I really should go back and read directly from your journal on occasion. Now that you use cuts (I'm a non-standard consumer - I think cuts are Really Annoying), I don't tend to read your posts on my friends page because I'm usually reading in a few spare moments and don't follow links. I'm still reading when I get the chance, and I still care. *hug*

I knew the cuts would lose me some folks, alas. And I understand that the extra step is just inconvenient enough, for some folks (hard for me not to, given how I feel about / react to cut-tags myself, especially when skimming in a hurry).

A long time ago I did create a syndication feed from IJ into LJ, and forgot to destroy it while I could. As I've thought about it more, and realized that the only people likely to use it are folks who wouldn't be seeing ads there (i.e. logged-in LJ users), the less bothered I am by having that particular channel showing my content on LJ. So until/unless you start reading your IJ friendspage, you can subscribe to dga_ij_feed on LJ.

It does risk fragmenting the comment stream a smidgen farther than it's already been fragmented, but that damage has pretty much been done. I need to get around to writing my cross-site comment aggregator.

Geez, I get behind on LJ due to the holidays & RL for a couple weeks & all merry havoc breaks loose. Sorry you've been enduring so much crap lately, & hope that you & your mom will be all better soon. Plus that the home invader gets caught.

Let me know if I can help somehow.

Thanks. I'm not optimistic about him getting caught unless he turns out to be even more stupid than he seemed, but it would be nice.
