"Show me someone who doesn't dream about the future and I'll show you someone who doesn't know where they are going" -- I have not yet found a plausible attribution for this (I've seen it attributed to Shakespeare but it doesn't sound like him; I've seen it most often labeled anon. or unknown)

Yeah, the google ngrams viewer shows nothing at all for "show me someone" before the 1880s, which confirms your "doesn't sound like Shakespeare."

Dreaming about the future, while it may point in a direction, does not remotely imply that one will be able to take a single step in that direction, nor actually end up anywhere near there.

My dreams of the future involved my working in space, off the planet's surface.
