"White as a winding sheet,
 Masks blowing down the street:
Moscow, Paris London, Vienna -- all are undone.
The drums of death are mumbling, rumbling, and tumbling,
 Mumbling, rumbling, and tumbling,
The world's floors are quaking, crumbling and breaking."

  -- Edith Sitwell (b. 1887-09-07, d. 1964-12-09) "The Last Gallop" (1922)

I'm puzzled, is https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=34Ms12GbHaE really the tune for this? It sort of turns the poem into a dark carnival. Fitting in a way, though.
