All that is fine and dandy, but it doesn't specifically focus on what our real problem is.
It is:

Why do we have a "political class?"

A couple of years back, we kicked the aristocracy out.
Remember:

"All men are created equal?"

Where did that go?

It's NOT their power.
It's our power, which they are hired to exercise for us for a term, and it's time (ok, long past time!) to ram that truth down their throats. (Term limits, anyone? All 'solutions' have downsides.)
  Or roll over and expose our throats.
