[Today is St. Nicholas' Day. Remember that Santa Claus is ethnically Greek and lived in what is now part of Turkey during his ecclesiastical career, before the assorted migrations (and renamings) that landed him at the North Pole. Also: he had a temper. But also known, of course, for being rather protective toward children.]

[Today is also the second Sunday of Advent.]

I love the stories of Nicholas of Myra, but especially the icon that makes him look Klingon.

Oh yes, if I lived in a house with a front yard, I'd want an inflatable lawn-Santa made to look like that icon! (I wonder whether anybody makes those yet.)
