I do know there are people training police to escalate rather than to de-escalate. Such "trainers" have been at large for years.

Terrifying.

This is confusing to me, because I read a book 15 years ago by a policeman about DE-escalation techniques (*Verbal Judo*). It wasn't the best written/edited book, but it was written as "here's standard police practice that can help anyone" ?!?!?
