"Marriage" is historically about ownership... by the male of the female... I choose to not address any other gender situations than the obvious plumbing mostly because i don't travel those paths and am way out of my comfort zone.
"Marriage" is more about not being able to separate Love and Lust. One can grow over time, even if it isn't there at the beginning. The other will, almost assuredly, decline over time. And that's where most of the problems arise from.
