"People get to know me through my writing (or even bloviating :-) ). Other academics have approached me to ask me to edit their work, give papers at major conferences, and join professional organizations, despite not knowing my RL name at the time. The only thing I can figure is that I have built a reputation under the pseudonym as someone they can trust. My not using my own name seems not to have mattered. I can only hope that it's because I've built up a kind of trust with my readers, in the same way that an author who uses a pen name does.

It's all just a matter of brand management. I learned this with my own names and took the example from how corporations handled their own brand identities. My mundane name handles the legal paperwork while I do my thing under the name(s) everybody knows.

You have had many names since I first met you.
Your names have spanned race, creeds and worlds.
You are so much more than any name or label could contain.
It is amazing you can be named at all.
