Note that Lovett or Leave It is a political humour (mostly) podcast. He was pretty specifically being sarcastic and calling out a cultural blind spot, not attributing that as an actual American Value -- and the only way the humour works is if enough of his audience sees it as a bad thing. Therefore he obviously knows it's not all of us.
