The so-called "elites" are doing the exact same thing now that they did during and after the so-called "Civil War." A significant difference now is that the "media" has changed and allows "elites" to spread their damage much wider and faster. "Media" is also allowing the 'wacky fringe' a voice like never before. Thing of note is that it's now more obvious that where one finds a large part of the 'wacky fringe' is deeply embedded in the "elite" ranks.
