"Just found out Gen Z kids are calling the 90s 'the late 1900s' and I feel like I just drank from the wrong grail in Indiana Jones" -- jordan ([twitter.com profile] jordan_stratton), 2022-08-19

[I've had the flip side of that -- when I finally sought dental care after avoiding it for weay too long, the dental student asked when I'd last seen a dentist. "Um, not sure exactly, but sometime last century." She looked startled, "You can't be that old, come on." I narrowed it down, "Probably in the early to mid 1990s." A thoughtful look, then, "Oh, right, that is last-century."]

At lunch recently with some Gen Z coworkers I used the phrase "A (something) of one's own." They looked at me oddly and I said "It was a Twentieth Century thing." I later brought up acid rain and they expressed disbelief that rani could be acidic, so I said "That was also a Twentieth Century thing."
