My sleep schedule is so wonky lately. I'm either up for a very short time before I crash again, or I'm up for way-too-long stretches before I can sleep. Whee! Confusing. Did get more of the work-I-get-paid-for done, but I also just spent a couple hours scanning financial stuff to email to a mortgage lender (part of that trying for a miracle thang). And I spent quite a bit of time being distracted by a) my tummy and b) the heat. With window air conditioners running in nearby rooms, my office finally cooled down to about 304 overnight. (Uh, that's in Kelvins of course ... about 31 Celsius, or too-expletive-hot Farenheit (upper 80s, ok?).) Good thing I can work naked, huh? Unfortunately the A/C in the office died (it sounds like the compressor is running but the fan is stuck), and it's screwed and caulked into its window, and the other window in this room is painted shut. If I were going to be staying here past the end of the month, doing something about it would be much more urgent, but as it is it comes down to a question of which way I lose more hours I could be doing something else: moving the computers and the desk so I can get to the A/C to swap in another unit and then moving everything back, or being a little dizzy part of the time from the heat.
I've got my Gatorade. We'll see what the weather does, eh?
Hmm. Time to flip the record over. As I recall, I bought this album because the song title, "Something So Feminine About A Mandolin" caught my eye. (I was already a bit of a Buffet fan, but not as much so as I later grew to be.) Turned out to be a good decision -- I like the song and I like the rest of the album.
I need to get more patch cables (stereo mini-phone) and adaptors so I can finish hooking things up according to my Great Plan. I also need to find a working cassette deck. There are several in the house and none work. This might not happen before I move.
I'm trying to figure out whether I'm tired enough to crash (I'll need to do so sometime soon) or awake enough to try to finish up the research my boss has been waiting for. Figured I might as well write here while I try to figure that out.
