There was a loud noise just now that sounded ... wrong. Kind of like what a tornado is supposed to sound like, only nowhere near that loud. Very thunderlike except that it rolled on and on with an ADSR envelope more like a purr than a crash. And I didn't get a really clear direction on it other than that it was coming from the front of the house.
When I got to the front room, before I got to the window, it started sounding kind of like motorcycles. I looked out the window. It was a very large pod of motorcycles -- I'm not used to hearing that many together, and it's not a sight one sees all that often on Lombard St.
"Pod"?? Well, neither "flock" nor "herd" sounded at all right when I thought them, and hunting for something suitable, somehow dolphins leapt to mind. So what are some good collective nouns for large groupings of motorcycles?
Anyhow, I stood at the window realizing that the one camera that already has film it it is downstairs and that there was no way I'd get it before the light turned green. A moment later they were gone.
Oh well. Back to my garlic/potato/pumpkin soup. (Uh, I just threw a bunch of stuff into boiling water and screamed "Fiat Soup" at it. Not bad, but next time I have to find the missing tarragon (I could've sworn I saw it in the kitchen yesterday) and add more cumin.)

I'm having a little cognitive dissonance over the concept of riding a motorcycle in sandals...
