A thousand miles, one lost earring, many Calories, two nights, seven rolls of film, and one wedding after my previous post, I'm home again. Back from the North Coast. Exhausted. Observed over breakfast that I'm working my way through the wedding roles: I've been a best man, an usher/groomsman, the photographer, the minister, in the band, the band, and just-a-guest. I haven't been married myself yet, nor have I been a parent of one of the people getting married, caterer, or florist ... do we count bridesmaid and maid of honor as parallel to groomsman and best man, or as distinct items for me to get around to checking off someday? Obviously, I should be in bed instead of typing.

In the list of possibilities, you forgot offspring of someone who is getting married. Preferably not your parents after you were born, but second marriages happen.

And there is the peculiar possibility of former spouse, especially if the parting was reasonably amiable. (I like her, I just can't live with her.)

And what about (gollum) Ring Bearer?
