I haven't been feeling well the past couple of days, so there are some things I've been meaning to write (here and as comments to friends' journals) that I'm not getting around to right away. Instead, when I get in front of the computer, I'm tossing out easy stuff. Like this adornment themed Friday Five thingie.

1. Do you wear any jewelry? What kind?

Usually a small gold cross on a gold chain, plus whatever earrings I feel like that day. My enamelled acoustic-guitar earrings (by Modern Primitive) get worn more often than any others, but I have several pairs, including some made by myself and friends. When I'm in garb, and at random other times, I wear a great big pewter Celtic cross copied from a medieval design. I have other jewelry that I don't wear all that much these days, but every so often I look at it and try to figure out why I don't bother to wear it.

2. How often do you wear it?

The clasp on the gold cross is a nuisance, so it stays on for days or weeks or months at a time. The pewter cross (if I'm not wearing the gold one) and the earrings are only when I leave the house or am expecting company. It's rare that I leave the house without earrings unless I'm in medieval or Renaissance garb (I don't think any of mine are historically correct styles) and even more rare that I go out without a cross. (It's a conscious response to a visibility issue. Many of the people I hang out with tend to forget that not all Christians are the annoying ones they notice most often. My constantly wearing a cross is a reminder that there are Christians in their social group as well, without having to find excuses to say it aloud. It's supposed to be a subtle reminder.)

3. Do you have any piercings?

Two, one in each earlobe. And getting them was a Really Big Deal at the time (and for about fifteen years leading up to it). There are other piercings that interest me, but I don't know yet whether I'll ever get them. (Especially since the ones that appeal to me the most are on body parts I don't have (yet) and some of the others are on parts that may someday get turned inside out (and I'm not sure exactly where the holes will line up ifwhen that happens).) I might get my nipples done someday, maybe, but I think that looks much better on much larger nipples than I've got, so probably not.

4. Do you have any tattoos? If so, where?

No. I think tattoos are cool, but I'm not sure whether/when I'll come up with one I think I'd still think was perfect two decades later. I mentioned in a comment to [livejournal.com profile] swy1974's 100-things post that I agreed with the statement, "I want to be able to morph my body according to my mood. It irks me that I can't." That's probably not compatible with getting inked. My attitude towards tattoos is that I really enjoy looking at them on other people, but they're probably not for me to wear.

5. What are your plans for the weekend?

Get my nails done (mandatory -- gotta get fill-ins on my strumming hand lest the trailing edge of the acrylic snag a string later), get loaner garb to a bandmate, pick up surplus Dremmel bits and hang out with a friend, maybe drop my cape off to be re-lined if the person I need to drop it off with has time after the end of Shabbas, try to figure out what tiny fraction of my grocery list I can afford, and take BW contacts and negs of a music festival to the festival organizer -- all on Saturday. Then on Sunday, Thrir Venstri Foetr is performing at a Twelfth Night feast in Annapolis.

So I can't afford the fatigue and migraine that have dogged me for the past two days. Grrrr!

Mood:: 'tired' tired
