A ray of sunshine

I'd been wondering when I'd hear from my cousins after they returned to England ... today I was clearing out a bunch of spam from my mailbox so as to be able to find real messages more easily, and discovered that one of my cousins had written to me several days ago. I'd overlooked her message because it was buried in a flood of spam I'd gotten that day.

At least I eventually saw it! And it brightened my day!

(I lost a message from my boss the same way recently -- the spam problem seems to have gotten worse lately. Maybe this weekend I'll finally get off my tail and install the CRM114 Discriminator ("Controllable Regex Mutilator") that I downloaded a while ago. It's been on my to-do list for a couple of weeks.)

My personal experience with bogofilter has been quite positive. I am currently actually using a combo of that and spamassassin. Between the two of them, I've got only one spam in my inbox so far this year (and 160 in my spambox). I have only had one problem with a false positive, and that was from someone using a skytel pager email thing (quickly fixed with whitelisting and score weighting).
