In email (quoted with permission), Interrobang wrote, "BTW, Glenn, is that a spondeic substitution in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me? ;)"

To which I replied, "Both, darling. You put the spondee in my Spandex."

She said it was the best comeback to that line that she'd seen. That pleases me.

Admittedly, I was punning by using the "metric feet" thing myself, but I guess I was humor-impaired at that moment, though.
