It doesn't have to be friends, even. At Pennsic, I was asked to pray for someone who was in ill health. I did so, even though I actively disliked the person. I mentioned that fact to someone in my shop. They said "You're a better person than I am." No, I just hope that if I needed the prayers, it would not be just my friends offering them.
