This Ananova story about a ferret on a train left me wondering whether ferrets are supposed to pay full-fare or a reduced rate.

That reminds me of the time that my ex, [livejournal.com profile] acrobatty, was returning from Pittsburgh with our ferrets in tow, and one of them got loose on the plane.

There was a commotion in first class, and the word "animal" floated back through the plane. His seatmate turned to him and said, "You still got your two little critters locked into their carrying case there?" and he said, "Of course I -- uh oh!" And rushed up to first class, where little Wednesday was capering gleefully about. He grabbed her, lifted her in the air and demanded, "What do you have to say for yourself?" and returned to his seat and locked her firmly back in.

And he settled back into his seat, relieved that it had all ended safely. Shortly, the captain spoke on the intercom... "Ladies... gentlemen... wildlife... Welcome to USAir flight #204, bound for New York..."
