I love the fact that you get to the end of the Baby X story and the apparent pun/hint ending makes you go:

"Oh, so Y must be a he, and so X must be a she!"

It's a nice demonstration of people's need to assign gender (which I've actually read before, but it was fun to read again). Even after the whole story, having the end imply anything at all makes you jump to a conclusion.
