*nod* Even if she weren't too small to bear a litter safely, I wouldn't be wanting to let a fertile female back outdoors. If I can manage to get her spayed before her next heat (this includes continuing a good-faith attempt to find her previous owner), that'll be a good thing. Otherwise, I'm going to have a spell of annoying yowling to deal with. (But if it comes to that, I'll deal.)

Didn't realize she might still be carrying a kitten or two. I'm hoping the SPCA can point me to a good vet who handles adopted-strays cheaply. (I figure if anyone would have a list of vets like that in the Baltimore area, it's them.)

Glenn,
The SPCA in Montgomery county has a list of Vets that you can take your cat to for the price of the voucher you get at there. (thats how I got Aishya spayed) Baltimore county should also. The SPCA might also be able to tell you a Vet or Vet school that will do it for free. (wondering if UofM has a Vet school)
You said the cat has a collar. (I think) It might have its shots and be spayed all ready. Most feral cats don't act like the one you are describing except when Mama Kitty was a house cat.
