Nancy remarked that there wasn't a whole lot for us to do on recorders at a filk convention (though I've tried to work the bass recorder in as accompaniment before) but that we should try to find time to just jam later. Then I had the idea to find a song that would work as well -- or better -- with a more organ-like accompaniment instead of a guitar accompaniment [...] each woodwind player will have deadly boring parts to play, but I bet the sound would be pretty cool. Unfortunately, we didn't have time to polish it up, and found it a little difficult to keep the timing together without anyone singing the melody, but it remains something I want to try later.
That is a VERY cool idea. Very very cool. And since I happen to be in 'a band' (note irony quotemarks) with jerusha, who both owns and can play a bass recorder ... damn. She's been wanting to do somethign with it and anach and I when he's playing guitar and I'm singing, and she COULD be playing the 'bass line', easily.
