My life just got a little simpler -- band rehearsal tonight was cancelled so folks can do hurricane-prep, so I don't have to figure out how to get there, and I can use the time doing weekend-prep, what little hurricane-prep I'm thinking of doing, and something that'll earn me a tiny bit of money.

Perrine was acting impatient-bored; I was busy ... so I poured out a little catnip into the box set aside for that purpose. She liked that. Came upstairs to say hello a while afterwards, but I haven't seen her in about an hour so she's probably sleeping somewhere. Trying to close some of these open Opera windows so I'll have more free RAM for work, I ran into some more that needed to go into a link sausage post, so expect another of those soon. On another machine, I had started to catch up on my LJ friends list, and instead of trying to work my way back twenty entries at a time while new ones come in, I just popped open a whole pile of windows, twenty entries per, going back about 600 posts, and I'll just start at the oldest and work forward later (or a little at a time when I need to distract myself for a break). Now to see whether I can get through everything I've got pending before the hurricane, just in case there are power outages.

Every so often (once or twice a day) I hit the refresh button to reload this map of Isabel's predicted track, more out of curiosity and "weather stuff is cool" than anything else. Looks like it's supposed to pick up speed once it hits land, and bang through Ontario Friday night or Saturday morning. Wonder how strong it'll still be after going that far over land.

I'm listening to a CD recorded at a couple of HCB rehearsals. The idea is for everyone in the band to comment on the arrangements (not the recording mix) so we can figure out what to change before going into the studio to record our second album. Yet another thing I'm behind on. So far the main thing I've noticed is that the mix sounds pretty bad on the teeny little speakers I've got in the office. (Especially since I know what this sounds like on two people's car stereos and my motther's stereo.) I don't have time to rearrange the office to find places for (and hook up) the larger speakers I've got, so I need to see where the headphones got buried. Not that I have time to make any notes right now. (Yeah, I'm taking a break to write this, but this really doesn't take long. Really paying close attention and deciding what I'd like to change would mean not doing much else at the same time.)

Okay, time for more baking soda + water, then back to work.
